How do I get to a Belgian castle hotel?
Belgium is a small country and if you plan to spend your time in its cities and towns, you can rely on public transportation to get you to where you want to go. Trains will speed you between major population areas, while buses will take you to the more rural areas. However, in much of the Ardennes to the southeast, you’ll want a car to best enjoy the countryside—especially if you plan on visiting the area’s castles, caves, and scenic spots. With the exception of The Dukes’ Palace in Bruges (where a car would be a burden), the castle hotels on this site are best reached by car.
If you do wish to rely on public transportation (and can read some French), the TEC website is a great route planner to figure out door-to-door transport, using trains, buses, and trams.
